Suntalk Project | Demos v1
Suntalk is a story first born out of grief, the loss of parents and the numbed silence that followed. At the beginning, it appears to be a journey through mourning, addiction, and the struggle to accept what cannot be changed. But as the story unfolds, its roots reach deeper. It is not only about parental loss, but about the childhood wound that came long before, a betrayal that planted fear and mistrust, shaping every relationship that followed.
Told through spoken word, music, and visual media, Suntalk is more than a story of loss. It is a dialogue between the self and an inner guiding voice, moving from despair to stillness, from false remedies to lasting clarity. At its heart, it is about how love returns when control is surrendered, and how healing happens with the smallest of actions, learning to accept what is, forgiveness, and self-love.
Bio
Brian Rougeau is an artist, musician, and former cinematographer whose work embodies resilience, transformation, and the power of expression. After decades behind the camera, shooting and directing films, documentaries, and music videos, his life unravelled through parental loss, divorce, and addiction. Recovery from drugs and alcohol became a long path of renewal, supported by the love of his children, life partner, family, friends, and the guidance of mental-health professionals. During this time, he turned to writing, drawing, and the jaw harp as ways to rebuild.
Now working under the musical artist persona Sonōsus, Rougeau blends poetry, music, and projection mapping into immersive works. His first project, Suntalk, weaves spoken word with the rhythms & melodic overtones of the jaw harp. The fifty-minute show explores themes of grief, inner voice, and healing.
Brian’s journey carries the imprint of someone who has burned, buried, and resurrected his own voice. He is an artist who only recently found the courage to call himself one.
