When I was a kid, we spent a lot of time camping. We had a small trailer parked at a place called Green Bay Cabins. Most evenings ended around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. My aunt, uncle, and cousins, who had a trailer in the same park, would often join us, sitting around the fire and sharing stories.
When the fire finally burned low, we’d head inside and call it a night. One of my favourite parts came just after that, lying quietly in bed, listening to the soft conversations between my mom and dad as they settled in. It was in those hushed moments that I learned how they felt about the day, and what tomorrow might hold. Their voices made me feel grounded, warm, and safe.
This waltz is my early exploration to bring back that feeling, to revive the quiet comfort of those nighttime conversations between my parents.
